Repel and compel

Deliberately attracting the right people and deterring the wrong ones.

Repel and compel is the principle that a strong EVP should actively deter people who would not thrive with you while strongly attracting those who would. Rather than appealing blandly to everyone, it embraces the trade-offs of your culture so the wrong candidates opt out early. This deliberate polarity raises the quality and fit of applicants and reduces costly mis-hires and early attrition.
